I'm in-between book releases right now, so I don't really have anything sparkling and new to show you all. Yet. We're slowly inching to the release of Unwanted on July 30th, and then later on the first novella to A Shard of Ice, titled An Ice Princess Heart, releases October 28th.

Sooooo while I continue to stare at my screen and slowly go blind, I figured there might as well be a little happy giveaway of some sort when my Facebook hit 1900 peeps. We're sitting pretty at 1906 now, so dun dun dun dunnnnn, crack out the burritos and sour cream, I've got goodies for you guys and gals to win!

Here's the goodie list:

(2) Two delicious swag bags with signed bookmarks of Illumine, Obumbrate, Riven, and A Shard of Ice

(1) Mini-heart pendant replica of Essallie's white heart from the Illumine Series

Ready, set, go!

Okay, so I seem to keep forgetting that not everyone is stalking me on Facebook, I know, shame on me! But I'm making up for it, I promise!

Ahem. Enjoy! Here's a peek at Ethereal, which will be here on February 28th. ♥

“Hold up, Slayer,” came a low, coarse voice. Rinae paused for a fraction of a second, wondering if she could get away pretending not to have heard him. But Jake always knew when she was lying. He had since Day One.

Nervously, she turned around, suddenly self-conscious in her own skin. A little voice in her heard reminded her that there was nothing to be nervous about, it wasn’t as if she was forbidden from leaving the group’s underground home. Maybe it was her clothes? She did a quick once-over, noting her black pants, black top, shit-kicker thrift boots, and maroon hoodie. Nope, definitely not the clothes.

Jake came up to Rinae, slowing his pace until he inched his way toward her. Out of the dozen or so that roughly lived in their hideout, Jake was both the person you wanted in your back pocket, and the person you wanted to avoid at all costs. He stood at average height, his short blonde hair shocking and naturally bright, the same way his blue eyes glowed on their own. Rinae thought back to the first time she had joked he soaked up all the radiation from a power plant, and how he’d punched her so hard in the shoulder she had sworn it was dislocated. Over time, he came to warm to Rinae, as all the others had carefully done, too. In some ways, she viewed him as an older brother more than their unspoken group leader. He was their dark angel, the protector of their small, tight-knit group to the city’s cruel and unforgiving streets.

“Leaving so soon?” His voice was smooth, but gritty, like sand polishing your feet at the beach. “Del said you only just got back.”

Fighting the mechanical urge to sneer at the mention of Del, she gave a short, jerky bob for a nod. Opening her mouth would have the same effect as pulling the plug to a bathtub full of water; rushing of words that couldn’t be said.

Reaching with a pale hand, Jake touched the hem of Rinae’s sleeve, slipping a finger in the thumbhole. A small frown dashed his lips. “Guess it’ll be the clubs. Kickin’ it out tonight?” Jake probed. He had a terrible habit of sticking his nose where it didn’t belong, but Rinae never could bring herself to say something. “What, are we not good enough for your precious time?”

She knew it was meant to be a friendly jab, still since winced. “You know me,” she offered, shrugging off the verbal sting. Her free hand flexed in and out of a fist, starting to shake. “Can’t sit still for more than a few seconds.”

Jake studied her for a moment, then nodded. She thought back to the first time they met, and how he’d made a passing comment of her visible shaking. In an act of desperation, Rinae had claimed she suffered from some kind of ADD. Couldn’t bring herself to sit still, never kept her mouth shut. And yet somehow he managed to tolerate her, smooth talk the rest of the gang into accepting her like a little sister while she kept the real reason hidden. Now it was her calling card, an excuse she could slap on anything in case she got out of hand.

“So which club are you thinking of crashing?” His hand moved from her sleeve to the ends of her hair, twirling a strand around his index finger.

Rinae ignored the urge to bite the inside of her cheek, that would be the quickest way to tell she was about to lie. She could feel the tears stinging her eyes, working a wall of liquid that would spill if she didn’t control herself, fast.

Forcing herself to stop twitching for a moment, she let the lie slip effortlessly from her lips. “Nowhere special. Was thinking about Slash.” She paused, long enough to fake contemplation. “Maybe Glitz & Bitz if I’m feeling edgy.”

“The lesbian bar?” Jake arched a single blonde eyebrow in true, classic cartoon form. Confusion and amusement riddled his voice as he spoke between two chuckles. “Funny, you don’t take me for the gay type.”

She made a move to turn and look away, but it was too late. A fresh, strawberry red blush tinted the upper half of her cheeks. The shakes riddling her body stopped, replaced by a new kind of jittering that swallowed her stomach and rattled her heart. Memories of his lips, brief and strong as he kissed her lips and palms, only made the quivering worse. Against all odds, she kept her cool. “Hey, you never know. Maybe that’s where my true love is at. You know, true love’s kiss can take form in a variety of ways.”

A knowing, come-on-now look settled in his eyes. “So can a chicken’s egg. Scrambled, sunny side up, hard-boiled, deviled, the list goes on. Just picture freshly made deviled eggs, laid out on your naked-”

“Jake Mathews, you finish that sentence, and I’ll-”

“You’ll what?” He pressed his body closer, stealing the space she had been keeping between them instinctively. Heat flamed her cheeks brighter, a twisting sensation in her gut making her brain go hay-wire. She could feel the beginning of her control unwinding, stripping away like paint to a wall. Or clothes to a body.

“What happened, Rinae? What happened to us?” His breath tickled the side of her neck, teeth grazing the edge of her earlobe. Hands found themselves on her hips, holding her tightly in place. “Tell me, Slayer, tell me you miss it. Tell me you miss us like I do.”

Rinae could feel her jaw forcing itself to lock. Her tongue rammed into the roof of her mouth. Sure, she could have told him she missed being together, missed it like a flame misses wood when it burns to ashes. But that would have been a lie. A beautiful, hopeless, damning lie.

He couldn’t be with her, just as she couldn’t be with him. For more reasons than he’d ever know.

Seconds ticked by, slow and silent. Each moment felt like a painful gunshots to the chest. It sealed her fate. Jake’s hands, having moved up and wrapping in her hair, withdrew carefully until they hung to the sides of his body in defeat.

She sighed. “Jake...”

“Be safe.” Red tinged the white in his eyes, hurt wavering inside them. He quickly blinked both eyes, the hurt dissolving with each blink. She could hear the faint wavering of his voice as he fought to keep himself in check. “I’d hate to break someone’s face if you didn’t come home in one piece.”

So lately I have been doing a mixture of working with the lovely Megan from Reading Away The Days and emailing a few of you personally for a little 'event' of sorts I have coming up. Now with RIVEN's cover having been revealed and all, I can happily begin madly promoting the event with a festive flurry reminiscent of peacock feathers. Because seriously, who doesn't love peacock feathers?

If the button above isn't quite your fancy, or if you aren't a fan of reading grey font on black backgrounds (yikes!) then read on, I'll fill you in! Thanks to Megan, RIVEN will be doing a hefty blog tour this winter, just in time for its wild release. And I'm making sure to pull out all the stops for this one. That's right, I'm not holding back any punches.

A few of you have already emailed me from seeing some earlier posts and hints that I was looking for bloggers for the event- if I haven't emailed you back, check your box today or email me again. I get a cluster-mash of emails daily and things have been known to go to the wrong box, miss me entirely, I miss it, etc. Mainly it's me who misses the email, and then I feel like a shmuck afterwards for not seeing it, and inserting tons of apologies into a single email. But this time, I've got it all worked out. Those participating in the RIVEN tour will be marked here, in this post, updated daily if I need to. They'll also be on my calendar on my desktop, laptop, and highlighted with purple in my inbox tags. I want to be sure no one is missed this time!

So let's say you want to participate in the tour and you're an author, or book blogger, or rabid fan who totally just wants to be in with the awesomeness. Email me with the subject line 'RIVEN Blog Tour Info' and I'll send you back the same email everyone else is getting. Currently I have the following spots filled:

NOVEMBER 26TH - Book Excerpt via Reading A Little Bit Of Everything
NOVEMBER 27TH - Guest Post via Reading Away The Days!
NOVEMBER 28TH - Guest Post on being an Indie Author via Stan Brookshire AND Interview via We Do Write
NOVEMBER 29TH - Character Interview with ______ via Reading Under the Stars
NOVEMBER 30TH - Post via BelleBooks
DECEMBER 1ST - Book Reviews via Book Briefs
DECEMBER 2ND - Review of ILLUMINE via Roland Capablo
DECEMBER 3RD - Review of either ILLUMINE or OBUMBRATE via Just Me, Myself and I
DECEMBER 4TH - Character Casting, Possible Review of ILLUMINE and OBUMBRATE via Michelle's Paranormal Vault Of Books
DECEMBER 5TH - Character Interviews with Essallie & Kayden via Hopelessly Devoted Bilbliophile AND Guest Post via Frankie Rose, Author of SOVEREIGN HOPE
DECEMBER 6TH - Post via Mademoiselle Le Sphinx
DECEMBER 7TH - RIVEN Release Day Party via Facebook + Twitter
DECEMBER 8TH - Post via Uniquely Moi Books
DECEMBER 9TH - Guest Post on Writing Process + Reviews of ILLUMINE and OBUMBRATE via My Guilty Obsession

*List above is subject to change at any given time.

My #1 goal is to fill all those spots so at least one thing is going on every single day, two things if I can figure it, three if I get enough requests. And that list will change with every email I get and send out, so please don't wait if you're curious about anchoring a spot for the day.

That being said, notice where it says DECEMBER 7TH? That's RIVEN's release date, and throughout that whole day, I'll be slamming Facebook, Twitter, probably post on Tumblr (still trying to figure that one out) and I'll even share some stuff through Google+ and Goodreads. But if you want to be right front and center for the release day (and possibly grab some seriously awesome winnings) you'll want to join the event on Facebook.

And with that, I'm off to answer some emails!

*UPDATE- December 2nd is now taken.

*UPDATE- December 4th is now taken.
*UPDATE- November 26th, 28th, and December 1st, 3rd, and 6th are now taken.
*UPDATE- Blog names and more details have been added, and November 27th is now taken.
*UPDATE- November 30th is now taken.
*UPDATE- December 8th is now taken. All spots are filled! If you're reading this now and interested in booking along with someone on a certain date, I'm willing to take a few more on for the tour.
*UPDATE- Frankie Rose joined in on the tour, HOW COOL IS THAT?! Seriously, mindblown over here.

Psssst, it's that time again! Who's ready for a kick-BUTT cover reveal?!

I present to you, Riven, the third book to the Illumine Series. Here's the dictionary definition of Riven:

riv·en [riv-uhn]
1. to tear or rend apart.
2. to separate by striking; split; cleave.
3. to rend, harrow, or distress (the feelings, heart, etc.).

And now, without further ado...

At this time, I am also doing some hunting for a few blogs interested in participating for the RIVEN Official Blog Tour (book blogs, fellow authors, etc.), so if you're sneaking a peek at this post and you'd like to help out a gal, give me a shout!

UPDATE- Megan at READING AWAY THE DAYS is booking dates for the RIVEN tour, as am I. If it happens, I will aim for two blogs posting events on the same day.

P.S.- I sort of made an 'oops' by revealing it on the blog tour button a little early, but I figured hey, it's small, you can't see the awesomeness at that size. But now you can! Yay!

There's always one or two who I miss among the masses, and I promise it's not me being mean or ignorant, I'm just a little on the forgetful side.

I am not a happy unicorn.
(I'm not really a unicorn, either, so how that pertains to this, I'm not sure. Let's go with sleep deprivation!)

Earlier this week, I shared a photo on Facebook that looked a lot like this:

BOOKS! TONS AND TONS OF BOOKS! On my couch.
And inside, I was dancing. Happy, joyful dances of insane qualifications. Steph would have been embarrassed at how all-over-the-place I was (yes, it was THAT bad). And then I looked inside.

Formatting. All. Wrong.

Somewhere between my precious computer and the CS printers, weird things happened. Missing pages, miss-aligned pages, grey boxes around all of the font. It was a giant pile of yuck.

Pretty sure that's not how a book is supposed to be.
Needless to say, I'm pretty peeved. Hence the 'not a happy unicorn' comment above. A-ha! Even while made I can make lame connecting jokes in a blog post!

So more or less, I'm waiting for a slipping label to ship these yucky books back and get a shiny new batch, which are scheduled to ship from CS's base on or around the 17th of July. If they ship on the 17th, I can tell you I'll have them by the 21st, so if all goes according to plan, anyone who has ordered a signed copy will get it by the end of the month. I'm really, truly sorry this happened, and it's completely out of my control, but you all deserve to know where the hold up is coming from, otherwise I would have sent them ASAP out to all of you!

So until those new (and hopefully non-messed up books) come in, Obumbrate is definitely still up digitally for grabs on Amazon and B&N, respectively. I've got links right below this for you to click and grab it, if only to temporarily fend off the itch to read it until the paperbacks come in.

First things first, Happy Independence Day!
Here's a photo of cake (that I didn't make, boo) that will probably make you very hungry. And have the urge to bake. Or maybe that's just me.

(source lovefromtheoven)

So earlier this week I had a mini revelation, and I knew I had to share it with all of you.

Multi-tasking. Is. Ridiculous.

We're inching closer (and closer, and closer) to Friday, aka #ObumbrateDay (you can sign up to attend the online event on Facebook here or just Twitter hashtag #ObumbrateDay), or as I like to call it, The Day I Spend More Time Staring At Amazon Than Any Other Day of The Year. Between working a 12-hour shift at my day job, I'll be slamming the internet like a giddy author, happily posting quotes and answering questions and doing flash giveaways all day.

But until that day actually comes, I've been doing a mountain of prep behind the scenes! Designing t-shirts, formatting the digital version of Obumbrate for Kindle/Nook/iBooks, completing paperback and hardback designs, promo items, bookmarks, I could list this stuff all day. I'm also pretty sure that if I wasn't so twitchy about being hands-on with my projects, I could have someone do some of this stuff for me and reduce the work load, but honestly where is the fun in that?

But back to topic. Multi-tasking is a miserable feat, and one that, if conquered, I tip my hat to you. I've only barely managed to juggle work, family, friends, and all the little things in-between and maybe catch my breath along the way. Example, my Monday kind of went like this:

9AM- Up. Acknowledge that the dishes did not magically finish themselves last night. Inwardly sob.
9:30AM- Receive email from CreateSpace, kindly informing me my cover was rejected because one of the E's was toeing the red line. Promptly rage.
10AM-2PM- Re-do cover. Get distracted along the way with imgur. Curse those cat photos.
2-4PM- Oh hey, those dishes still haven't finished themselves! And they're... growing.
4-8PM- Head over to friend's house for a few hours. Insert random stop at Starbucks and B&N.
8PM-3AM- Can't sleep, so let's do more graphic design!

Rinse and repeat for two days. Only add more later.
In hindsight, this doesn't look that bad. But something about trying to make a photo look good and accepting it in the end is impossible.

Oh, speaking of! If you've been lurking around Goodreads, you've probably seen the new cover for Illumine. Surprise! If not, as a 4th of July and early #ObumbrateDay treat, here's the cover.

It's here! The ultimate of indie giveaways is here!

Okay, so I'm totally not going to sugar-talk all of you, I'm just going to toss up the list of awesome stuff up for grabs and let you handle it from here!

It doesn't get much better than this! And what a better way to support an indie author by entering in this madness of a giveaway hop! The Rafflecopter below will tell you exactly what you can do to enter, and don't forget to keep up with other sweet giveaways and posts on my Facebook fan page Alivia Anders, Author!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hey everyone!

I know it's been a little bit since I've done a full-fledged dedicated post, so I kind of need to cram you all with a huge overload of updates and information and myth dispellers (curse those Mythers!) on a whole bunch of stuff going. Super promise it won't be heavy on the brain.

1- Obumbrate is still locked for its July 7th release. This hasn't changed! What HAS changed is where the online festivities will be taking place to celebrate. Originally, I had planned a Facebook party on several pages, but with Facebook's new fan page promotion policies, I can't unless I risk having the pages removed.

So we're going to make this super-easy and super-fun by simply making a Twitter party! All day on July 7th, use the hashtag #obumbrateday in your tweets, and you're in! I'll be posting from my user @aliviaanders and doing a series of flash giveaways including signed bookmarks, a couple signed paperbacks, and even some other sweet swag! Trust me, you do NOT want to miss this!

2- I am trying, desperately, to include a snippet of my next book, Unwanted, which is slated for a tentative Summer 2013 release. BUT I may not make the cut in time to include it. I may, however, have the ability to include a snippet of A Shard of Ice in the back, which is something I've been carefully working on and is slated for a Winter 2013 release.

3- The cover for A Shard of Ice is NOT the final cover. It's been dancing around online and a couple of people asked me if it was the final cover, but sadly, it isn't. I won't know the final cover of ASoI until this fall/winter. But, in case you haven't seen what I'm talking about, here's the idea of the cover I've been tinkering with:

(credit to istockphoto for the, uh, stock.)
That's all she wrote for the moment, but until my next post (which is for a MEGA giveaway hop I'm in that goes up in... 2 hours) see you all soon!

I only have one word.
SQUEE!

Okay, I lied. I have more than one word. HOLY SMOKES THERE'S ONLY 45 DAYS LEFT UNTIL OBUMBRATE COMES OUT.
There. I said it. Feels good, getting that off my chest. Phew!
So let's hear it! Does the trailer give you shivers?

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Can you believe it? Only 57 days left until OBUMBRATE is released! Don't know about you guys, but I'm chewing off all my nails and freaking out by ODing on coffee as the day grows closer.

Since announcing the date, you've seen the cover, you've read sneak peeks of the continuing tumultuous relationship between Essallie and Kayden, and you've probably twisted your mind around the mystery of Ari. So while you wait for the days to pass by, why not join in on the fun going on at my Facebook fan page?

Right now, and until the 17th of May, if you head on over to my Facebook page and tell me why you're the biggest TIS fan, you could win a signed copy of Obumbrate when it releases! Um, hello? How cool is that?

Meanwhile, if you haven't grabbed your paperback copy of Illumine yet, this is a heads up. Illumine will be getting a new cover come this July, probably right around the time Obumbrate is released. So if you're digging the whole 'indie cover' look, snatch your copy before the new cover rolls in. Or, you know, wait for the new cover and see if you love that one more. Either way, I promise the new one will be just as beautiful, if not more so.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Following along with the party, I'm participating in yet another awesome hop! If you missed your chance on some goodies and prizes, fret not- you've got another shot right here!

For this giveaway, I've got the following up for grabs:

1 Star Pendant from Stone Soup Designs

3 Signed bookmarks for TIS

& $10 for Amazon!

Please note- this is NOT an international giveaway! However, the giveaway/pre-order event for Obumbrate IS INTERNATIONAL! Follow this link for the details!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Earlier this week I posted some very beautiful bookmarks for Obumbrate, my second novel continuing The Illumine Series (TIS) where Illumine left off. And in that post, I may have mentioned that I would be unveiling a way to get your hands on some of those gorgeous beauties come Thursday.

Well, guess what? It's Thursday!

I had been thinking about ways to give everyone the best gift ever all week, and the conclusion I got at the end seemed perfect. Why not do a giveaway?!

Two lucky winners who pre-order a paperback copy of Obumbrate will win a SWAG package of SMOKIN' awesomeness (pun most definitely intentional.) Two lucky winners will receive:

1 OBUMBRATE T-Shirt (S-L, will be made for the winner!)

3 SIGNED OBUMBRATE bookmarks! (So two for you, one for a friend! Or all three for you if that tickles your fancy.)

1 OBUMBRATE Pendant Necklace! (Just like the one that was given away at Hopelessly Devoted Bibliophile!

The Rafflecopter will close on MAY 11th, so you only have until then to be entered to win this package!  Don't miss it!

Monday, April 23, 2012

Guess what?!
No, I didn't get a pet duck. Thanks for asking, though.
But I DID, however, get some new bookmarks made!
Check them out below! These are brand new, freshly made Obumbrate bookmarks!
Like 'em? Want to get your hands on 'em? Well, you can't yet, but you will be able to soon!
This Thursday at noon I will be posting how you can get your hands on these pretties!
Until then, if you like them, let me know in the comments below!

Thursday, April 19, 2012

It's finally here! That's right, it's time to quit hiding the cover for book two of The Illumine Series and reveal the cover for Obumbrate!

Following a neat little trend on quoting the dictionary, here's the definition of Obumbrate-

ob·um·brate

[ob-uhm-breyt]
1. to darken, overshadow, or cloud.

And without further ado...

Oooh, sound sneaky, huh? And check it out- Essallie's pendant is right on the cover! The cover in all its entirety, from photos taken to digital editing, was done by your truly! One of the coolest things I love is show you the imagery in my mind when I write, and creating covers from scratch does just that.

Later on next week I'll be sharing with you all the ability to pre-order a signed copy of the second book with a whole mix of goodies right from this blog. But until then, you'll just have to keep checking off the days until July 7th! (I promise, it'll be here before you know it. -insert wink here-)

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Holy smokes. It's almost 10PM and I didn't post this up yet for everyone! I'm so sorry! (Blame it on my... cat?)

First, in a totally non-grammy-winning speech sort of way, I want to say thank you to everyone who helped host, run, post about, and participate in the ILLUMINE'S WISH event. It was, in my opinion, a huge kick-butt success! I may not have pulled numbers like a well known author, but I'd like to think I did a buzzworthy number for someone still dipping her feet into the realm.

Winners for the different variety of prizes that were offered on a mix of blogs will be emailed or mailed out some time this week. I have it all sitting in my living room taking up approximately half of my floor and a loveseat, so... yeah. Kind of needs to get shipped soon before my family revolts on me for kidnapping the house with my stuff.

What I CAN announce in stark clarity are the winners of the ARCs of OBUMBRATE that was held right here on my blog. I will be emailing all the winners tomorrow, and those who don't get back to me within 48 hours I shall have to pass on and pick another. Standard policy and all the shnaz.

I know, I know. Get to the point, Alivia.

Alright, so the winners of the 5 ebook copies of OBUMBRATE are...

1- Christina Bahr
2- Jessica Haight
3- Helen Bush
4- Nancy Storey Allen
5- Alicia Marie Ezell

UPDATE: All five ecopy winners were emailed with the copies as of 10:40PM on May 6th! Please check your emails, ladies.

Yay! Big round of applause to the first batch of winners!

Oh I know, you want to know about the paperback winners, too. No worries, I have them right here!

Don't forget, this Friday April 20th will be the cover reveal of OBUMBRATE right here on the blog! I believe it may be going on another blog or two as well (I've been hiding from my inbox) so don't be surprised if you see it popping around all weekend!

Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? I'm kind of in that boat right now. I'm going to post a short little update on the wildness in my life, but tomorrow I swear on my soul I will be posting a detailed, marvelous post on the giant event next week called ILLUMINE'S WISH. However, until then, here's my crazy list.

- ILLUMINE, in ebook format, is FREE for the next 48. Yes, hours. Yes, I am crazy. Please download it, share it, be my knight in golden armor and run around your neighborhood proclaiming it. And give them this link!

- OBUMBRATE,  book two, finally has a cover! It will be revealed in all its glory on APRIL 20TH! I'm very proud of this, and I can very confidently say it's some of my best graphic design work.

- LIMITED EDITION OBUMBRATE BOOKMARKS are up for grabs on FACEBOOK PAGE! All YOU have to do is get that page up to 400 likes and then I'll hold a huge drawing for them!

- Tonight I will be at a charity event supporting a local hospital's burn unit, and while I'm selling my books there for donations, I figured I could extend the favor to my fans who aren't in the immediate area as well. So if you purchase a SIGNED COPY (right hand side of the screen) before 8PM EST, I'll donate 30% for each one bought. It's a kickass cause, and I'm proud to do this! Here's the Facebook page event about the charity hosting tonight!

- I'm pretty sure in the next month or so, not only will I have TIS website up and ready to run (THEILLUMINESERIES.COM) but I will open a cute little tab here offering some neat things like posters, bookmarks, t-shirts, all strictly made by me and my madness at home. Yay!

- And lastly, if you can't keep your pants on for July to get a copy of OBUMBRATE, you are in luck! Tomorrow I will unveil just how you can get one of TEN, yes ten, ARCS of OBUMBRATE! MEGA YAY!!

So until tomorrow, stay crazy, keep your eyes glued to my blog and remember, spinach is not very delicious on ice cream. Not that I know anything about this.
